Bike To Work for Healthy Air Living

More than 250 people participated in Bike to Work Day. Participants registered to win prizes donated by Snider’s Cyclery, including two commuter bikes, two $100 gift certificates, bike helmets, bike socks, and water bottles.
On October 8th, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (VAD) hosted Bike to Work Day in Bakersfield. The VAD partnered with Snider’s Cyclery, Bike Bakersfield, Golden Empire Transit and Kern Commuter Connection.
Commuter stands were set up along the bike path at Beach Park, Stockdale & Calloway, and Manor & Denise. A fourth stand was set up at Golden Empire Transit’s Downtown Transit Center at 22nd & Chester Avenue. Free refreshments, pens, and shopping bags were provided. Information on cycling as a commuter alternative was distributed.
